the Mole of the BOL Column

Today we're bringing you the next instalment by the Mole of the BOL called "Renault F1 Garage Exclusive Reportage - L'âge D'or".

I was strolling through the vast empty paddock to find my way to RF1 garage door. The first thing I saw was a set of rules. I paused for a second to check out whether I was eligible to enter: no wombats, no dogs and no lions. Hmm... Thank God I'm a Mole myself! I was greeted by an elegant team robot strangely called RF1 PP, very high-tech device I must tell you. A bit bizarre but it's OK. RF1 PP whispered into my ear that Nelson Piquet and Fernando Alonso performing at this grand prix are both replicas of the real people. Nelson was kicking it in the Caribbean and Fernando was in Jerez busy at his bodega. These amazing replicas could walk, talk and drive like Alonso and Piquet and were stored at night in one of the team's trucks. The rumour has it that they use KERS batteries from R29 to power these humanoids.

I was told to take a few pictures and get out. Which I did.

The moles are not what they seem.

Alonso replica.

The famous door.

Piquet replica.
